Stardew Valley is one of the best roleplaying/farm simulator games to have ever existed, and I don’t think many gamers would argue with me on that one.
It has everything from a more-ish, cosy, addictive atmosphere that you just get lost in, to high-stakes, heart-racing moments as you slay creatures in the depths of the mines, to making friends with intriguing locals. This perfect game even sends you on quests that occupy days on end as well as filling your calendar with events to attend, crops to grow, animals to tend to; even winning Easter egg hunts are part of your list of obligations!
Yes, the graphics are 2D with a top-down perspective; no, it isn’t like playing a AAA title; it’s old school, but it’s just perfect.
It has 100% achieved legend status in my gaming library but and there is a BIG but, it does end, you can complete it and even though you can playthrough it again and again and change outcomes (I am looking at you Jojo mart), priotise different farming mechanics, marry different people and generally have varied experiences each time you play, it does get to a point where you just want to start afresh, without knowing what’s going to happen and I have found the perfect games for satisfying that urge.
I have conjured up a list of the 14 very best games like Stardew Valley that fill that black hole void it leaves behind when you no longer reach for it and find yourself looking elsewhere.
These games are all RPG games, with the same cosy atmosphere and farming mechanics, and are worthy of their spot alongside the GOAT that is Stardew Valley.
Let me know what you think. Which games do you play to fill the void such an epic game leaves behind?
