Today we are going to be talking about tycoon games. I love tycoon games, I just love the running, managing. building and overlooking of things. I spend hours building and creating tycoon worlds and thought i would share with you all of my favorite tycoon games.
They are in no particular order, although some i do prefer over others and i will state that in their descriptions! I have also managed to find the best deals online and have left the link with each game too so if you are looking to buy you will find a discount with each game.
The Best Theme Park Simulation…
Of course it’s Rollercoaster Tycoon 3!
I had to include this classic tycoon game, I have played it for years and years and no matter where I go in life I always come running back to it. Being able to create your own theme park complete with food stands, prices, souvenirs, rides, fences and even employees. I find it so much fun and a game that will never ever get old to me.
I have played each roller coaster tycoon (1, 2 , 3 and 4) and I stand by anyone that says tycoon 3 is the best and not just because of all the happy memories I had growing up. Roller coaster tycoon 3 is up to date, doesn’t crash, there are no micro-transactions and it just works so well.

Skyscraper Extraordinaire?
I’m talking about Project Highrise. You get to build and manage your own skyscrapers and build an incredible high-rise city.
You’re in charge as you build and overlook everything, keeping everything running smoothly and efficiently as possible, you must build as an architect the best buildings in the city.
Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day…
I find this game to be a little bit more ‘stressful’ as there is a huge war going on. You must fight to make Rome an empire, using politics, economics and of course a lot of war.
It’s not a light-hearted game like rollercoaster tycoon but if you want to create an amazing army, have slaves and dominate quite possibly the world…it’s for you.

Run A Whole Island And Be Called ‘El Presidente’?
Of course, I am talking about Tropico. If you aren’t familiar with the game it’s a tycoon game where you must complete missions, decide the future of your islands people, have relations with other countries, choose your people’s quality of life, help during natural disasters, trade and so much more. I also LOVE the option of being able to decide if you will be a corrupt government or not…
You have people constantly asking for your help and help in making decisions, it’s easy to pick up if you watch the tutorial.
Sim City!
I think the sims was so well made and will hang around for years that when they brought out sims city they knew exactly how to lure people in.
Complete tasks, build a city however you like, import and export, create jobs and even little things like museums and seaside resorts. You even have to focus on the little details like fire stations and pollution radius. Sim city is so easy to play but so much fun, it has to be one of my favorite tycoon games. It’s pretty addicting and keeping up your people’s happiness and upgrading constantly is so thrilling.

A ‘Classic’ Architect…
This game is called ‘prison architect’. It’s so loved by tycoon lovers worldwide and it’s easy to see why. You build, overlook and manage a prison crammed with criminals.
Build toilets, prison cells, prison blocks, a canteen, somewhere they can get patched up after a prison fight, an outside area and so much more. This game lets you be in charge of the law inside your prison, build your prison however you choose, just know hours of fun await.
Mad Games Tycoon
Set in the 80’s you create your own game studio starting off in a small garage. Keep on building and upgrading your staff to reach new heights in your business. Build your dream game company from the ground up and feel rewarded by watching it grow.
You are in total control of your own company and it’s up to you to buy and sell and make decisions.
My fav Tycoon game is RollerCoaster Tycoon and I’ve created a list of games just like it.
Game Dev Tycoon
Probably one of the most enjoyable tycoon games I’ve played.
As someone who dabbled with a little game development, I feel in love with the concept of this game.
In my opinion, this is a must have tycoon game, but it’s a little different to the games above, this doesn’t have must of a build aspect, it’s more of a click and play.
You build games, using clever deals and decide whether you’re going to be the limited resources you have at the start on graphics, sound, story, etc.
The more successful your games are the more you can upgrade your office, the more awesome people you can employ, the better your games become.
This game gave me about 9 hours of share enjoyment and it was one of the most addictive tycoons I’ve played, meaning while I was playing I was completely hooked.
